With so many different products available, it can be a challenge to know which is the right one to pick for your needs. Here’s a breakdown of Mom-Mom’s skin care oils, essential oils, and ready to use oils.

Mom-Mom’s Skin Care Oils are what we call ‘carrier oils’ or ‘base oils.’ They come from the nuts, seeds and kernels of different plants, like almonds or jojoba kernels, and are called carrier oils because we use them to carry the essential oils safely onto our skin. Carrier oils also have their own amazing benefits in addition to helping dilute essential oils- they are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that nourish, protect, and hydrate our skin. Mom-Mom’s Sweet Almond Oil is a great whole-body oil rich in vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids. Apply it to damp skin after a shower to help lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. It’s also a great choice for making a massage oil blend using Mom-Mom’s Essential Oils. Mom-Mom’s Argan Oil and Mom-Mom’s Organic Rosehip Oil are great choices for face application because they are low-comedogenic carrier oils, meaning they won’t clog pores.

Mom-Mom’s Essential Oils also come from plants, but unlike carrier oils they are steam distilled from various parts of the plant (root, leaf, flower, fruit), and are highly concentrated aromatic compounds. Depending upon the plant it comes from, an essential oil can have a variety of uses that vary from home care to skin care. Mom-Mom’s Tea Tree Essential Oil, for example, is an amazing purifying essential oil that can be added to homemade cleaning products like deodorizing carpet powders, yet also has a toning and balancing effect on the skin when added to a carrier oil to make a serum. Because essential oils are so concentrated they are not meant to be used directly on the skin; they need to be properly diluted before application. Carrier oils are a great option for dilution that can be used for massage, facial care and even hair care. Adding 1-2 teaspoons of Mom-Mom’s Vegetable Glycerin to a spray bottle with water and your favorite essential oils (Mom-Mom’s Geranium Essential Oil and Mom-Mom’s Bergamot Essential Oil is a luxurious combination) makes a lovely facial toner.

Mom-Mom’s Ready-to-Use Oils combine the benefits of both worlds- essential oils that are already appropriately diluted in carrier oils, to take all the guesswork out of blending for you. All of the Ready-to-Use oils come safely diluted in fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, hempseed oil or argon oil, which are full of vitamins and minerals and incredibly hydrating for the skin.  Fractionated coconut oil is also non-comedogenic, making these oils a great choice for both whole body and facial care. Try massaging a few drops of Mom-Mom’s Ready-to-Use Frankincense Oil onto your face for a soothing and toning facial serum, or after a relaxing bath in the evening apply Mom-Mom’s Ready-to-Use Lavender Oil to damp skin before crawling into bed. Mom-Mom’s Ready-to-Use Eucalyptus Oil and Ready-to-Use Peppermint Oil are great choices after a morning shower to help you feel awake and ready for the day. Applying skin care oils to damp skin is a great strategy to help increase absorption of the oils and lock in moisture for all-day hydration.

Cut your own Lavender

During our 2023 lavender season (June 1st thru July 7th), you can reserve time to come to the farm and cut your own lavender. The charge is $10.00 per adult (16+), $5.00 per youth (5 - 15), children under 5 are free. The fee covers 1 hour on the farm and 1 bundle of lavender.

Each bundle should be about 80-100 lavender stems. We give you a section of pipe cleaner and you can cut as much as you want that the pipe cleaner can contain.

You may cut more than 1 bundle and each additional bundle is $10.00 each.

Times may be extended dependent upon the volume of total reservation in the next hour. We want to limit the farm to about 15 to 20 families in the field at a time. This is primarily due to our parking capacity and our desire to maintain an open feel to the farm.

Online appointments for cut your own bundles can be made June 1st - July 7th for the entire field. After July 7th no appointment is needed for cut your own lavender, but only French lavender will be available for a limited time as the English varieties are already harvested. After August 7th the lavender will all be harvested and the season over.
